The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 25-year-old newlywed businessman, Lovely Chukwulobelu, over an alleged attempt to traffic cocaine to Portugal.
The suspect was arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu on September 25 while preparing to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal through Addis Ababa, according to the agency.
The NDLEA said Chukwulobelu had ingested 72 wraps of cocaine and later excreted all of them while under observation.
The agency also said the suspect was still wearing his wedding ring when he was arrested.
Chukwulobelu reportedly told investigators that he previously operated a car decoration business at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos, before relocating to Portugal in May 2023.
