Two dead as cultists clash in Lagos community

Residents of Orita Adeba in Lakowe and Sangotedo were plunged into mourning over the weekend after cult-related clashes claimed the lives of two young men in separate suspected reprisal attacks.

According to reports, the killings are part of a surge in cult violence that has recently left multiple casualties across Lagos State.

A viral video captured one of the victims wearing brown shorts, a white vest, and dreadlocks, lying in a pool of blood while onlookers gathered, grieving and taking photos.

Speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter, a Lakowe resident told journalists the victim had been hacked with machetes and dumped by the roadside. He added that the attackers also cut off the victim’s right wrist and took it away.

“It is true. It happened yesterday. They left the body at Orita Adeba, opposite the Lakowe Bus Stop. We can no longer sleep at night. “We learnt that the Aye cult group killed him. His wrist was totally cut off. They have been killing each other to count scores for a few weeks now,” he told newsmen.

While residents linked the Lakowe killing to cult violence, another young man was also found dead in the Sangotedo area.

A video shared by the Naija Confra Telegram page showed the victim in a white singlet and black trousers lying lifeless by the roadside.

The Police are yet to provide details of the incidents as of the time this report was filed.
