BREAKING: FG announces new minimum admission age for tertiary institutions

The Federal Government has officially set the minimum entry age for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria at 16 years.

Speaking on Tuesday at the opening of the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized that this age requirement is non-negotiable.

He further warned that any admission carried out outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be deemed illegal, with perpetrators facing prosecution.

Alausa also stated that heads of institutions involved in admission malpractice would be held accountable and prosecuted accordingly.
