JAMB disowns messages asking candidates to reprint slips

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has distanced itself from a fake version of its shortcode being circulated among UTME candidates, which falsely instructs them to reprint their examination slips for a resit.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB clarified that there are currently no scheduled examinations and assured candidates who have already taken the resit and received their results that they have nothing to worry about.

“Such messages are fraudulent and intended to sow confusion,” the statement read.

The board emphasized that the only upcoming exams on its calendar have not yet been scheduled.

JAMB highlighted its planned foreign examinations in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa, as well as a mop-up exercise for candidates who missed both the main and rescheduled UTME exams.

“We urge the public to disregard these deceptive messages. Those qualified for the mop-up examination, as specified, will be duly notified once preparations are finalised,” the board added.

UTME 2025

Out of the two million candidates who registered for the 2025 UTME, over 1.9 million participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

However, JAMB acknowledged a technical issue that impacted the results of 300,000 candidates across 157 CBT centres in Lagos and the South-east. This followed numerous complaints from candidates who claimed their scores did not reflect their actual performance.

In response, JAMB issued an apology and rescheduled the UTME for the affected candidates. Additionally, the board announced plans to conduct a mop-up exam for over 90,000 candidates who missed the initial UTME.
