Nigerian actress Ini Dima-Okojie and her husband, Abasi Ene-Obong, have welcomed their first child.
The Nollywood star announced the arrival of their baby on Wednesday through a post on her Instagram page, where she shared photos of herself holding the newborn.
However, she kept some details undisclosed, choosing not to reveal the child’s name or birth date.
Ini, who celebrated her 36th birthday on June 24, said she opted to mark the occasion by embracing and celebrating her new role as a mother instead of her usual birthday photoshoot.
The actress shared an intimate reflection on her transition into motherhood, a role she described as more transformative than any she has ever played on screen.
“Every year, my birthday comes with a photoshoot, glam, and a carefully planned concept. This year, none of that felt quite right,” she wrote.
“There is no role I have ever played that has humbled me, stretched me, challenged me, or filled my heart quite like this one.
“Because as special as every birthday has been, this one feels different. This year, I celebrate as a mother.”
She also described the past few weeks as some of the most beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and rewarding moments of her life and talked about the joy of getting to know her son, whom she described as “the cutest boy with the sweetest dimples”.
“The newborn phase is no joke, and I definitely didn’t fully understand what was waiting for me,” she said.
“Today, I celebrate another year of life, but even more than that, I celebrate the privilege of being his mum.”
Dima-Okojie first announced she was pregnant in April, sharing a video of herself in a flowing white gown, showing off her baby bump.
