Actress Mary Njoku warns against malicious prayers

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has taken aim at what she calls religious extremism, stressing that God’s judgment is not influenced by hatred, envy, or personal grudges.

In a post shared on Instagram, she noted that regular church attendance and extensive knowledge of the Bible do not give anyone the power to cancel or overturn the blessings God has bestowed on another person.

Njoku further stated that God is fair and all-knowing, judging people based on the sincerity of their hearts and intentions, while rewarding those who demonstrate genuine love, loyalty, and faith.

Njoku wrote, “Dear religious fanatics, God justice cannot be guided by your grudges. Just because seven days a week or read the bible from Genesis to Revelation does not mean that hating someone and fervently praying for their downfall will cancel God’s favour upon their life. God is not unjust, he sees the hearts, knows our motives and honours geniune love and faithfulness.

The mother of three also cautioned against making harmful prayers out of spite, noting that such prayers tend to backfire quickly when aimed at individuals who have shown love, kindness, and support.

Njoku added that the target of such ill will could even be someone sent by God as an answer to the petitioner’s own prayers.

While bitterness may cloud human judgment, she said, it cannot deceive God.

She added, “Nothing backfires faster than a malicious prayer against someone who has only shown you love, kindness, and support. Especially someone God may have sent as an answer to your own prayers. Bitterness may blind the heart, but it cannot blind God”.
