Actress Rachael Okonkwo announces appointment as Gov Mbah’s SSA

Actress Rachael Okonkwo has confirmed her appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development to Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The appointment was announced by Governor Mbah in September, but Okonkwo recently made it official through a statement shared on her Instagram page.

The actress disclosed that she was graciously appointed in September, although the news was only made public recently.

She said, “With a heart full of gratitude to God, I am delighted to officially announce my appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Films and Creative Industries, by His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State. This appointment, which was graciously given in September, is one I receive with deep gratitude, humility and a profound sense of responsibility.”

Reflecting on her journey in the entertainment industry, Okonkwo said she understands the creative sector’s potential for economic growth, job creation, cultural preservation, and global recognition.

“Having spent years building my career in the entertainment industry, contributing to Nollywood, championing creative expression and creating platforms that inspire and empower others, I understand that the creative industry holds enormous potential”, she wrote.

She added that she does not take the responsibility for granted, describing it as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Enugu State’s creative ecosystem.

“I see it as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of our creative ecosystem, amplify emerging talents, support filmmakers and creatives, and help position Enugu State as a thriving destination for film, arts, culture and entertainment.”

The actress thanked Governor Mbah for the confidence he has placed in her, noting that the appointment is more than a title.

“To His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, thank you for the confidence reposed in me. This is beyond a title; it is a call to impact. For Enugu. For our creatives. For the future of our creative industry”, she concluded.

The announcement has been met with widespread celebration from colleagues, including Nkechi Blessing Sunday, and fans across social media.
