The Afrobeats superstar popularly known as Davido, David Adeleke, has reacted to a viral paternity allegation made online by a teenage girl.
The issue surfaced after an Instagram user, Anu Adeleke, published an open letter appealing to the singer to undergo a DNA test. The teenager, who said she was on the verge of entering her teenage years, claimed that growing up without clarity about her father subjected her to bullying and emotional distress throughout her school life.
According to her, the uncertainty surrounding her paternity caused severe mental anguish, prompting her to seek professional help, as classmates allegedly mocked her whenever she mentioned that her father was “Mr David Adeleke”.
In the letter, she explained that she was raised with strong moral guidance from her mother and grandmother and decided to speak out independently as she sought to establish her identity.
“I am a bit late into the 15th day of the month but I’ve been busy getting back to school after the holidays with family and friends,” she wrote.
“This year I become a teenager. My mom and grandma has always educated me on being a responsible teen. No drugs, alcohol, bad company and bad behavior.
“Today I drafted a letter I wrote from the depth of my heart not with help from my relatives. As I grow older I want to establish my identity. I was bullied in school since I was 6-years-old and cried home daily.
“Other students laughed at me when I told them my father was Mr David Adeleke. I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health. It was a sad challenging time in my life.
“This page was not online for 5 years as my mom never updated this account since it was handed over to us. We went through a lot.
“Despite the challenges, I still excelled to the top of the class and became the class prefect. We posted some of my report cards on this page.
“Now that I’m in secondary school and still excelling in my studies, I don’t talk about my family history anymore.
“However on that note as I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke Singer @davido for a DNA test to establish my identity.
“This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is something that’s the right thing to do.”
Davido, however, dismissed the allegation in a response shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that multiple DNA tests had already been carried out.
The ‘Unavailable’ singer disclosed that a total of five DNA tests were conducted — three at medical facilities of his choice and two at hospitals selected by the girl’s mother — all of which returned negative results.
“After 5 DNA test … she Dey crase .. her and her mom better leave me the f**k alone and go find her papa,” he wrote.
“Never met the b*tch… except when went For the DNA… very stupid behavior I will soon treat their FK… 5 f**king hospitals just to be clear .. the mom needs to go to jail … I don’t blame the poor girl ..
“Yes I chose 3 hospitals and they chose their own two hospitals .. all came out Negative. this is the last time I’m speaking on this nonsense.”
Davido ended his remarks with a warning of possible legal action, stating, “When we strike make nobody beg us ooo ok.”
