AMVCA 2026: Full list of nominees

 

Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have released the list of nominees for the 12th edition ahead of the main ceremony scheduled for May 9.

The organisers had earlier named veteran actress Joke Silva as Head Judge, succeeding Femi Odugbemi.

This year’s awards will feature 32 categories, including 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted categories, and three special recognition honours such as Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards.

As part of efforts to enhance pan-African representation, the organisers also introduced two new categories — Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa).

The nominees cover a wide range of categories, including Best Digital Content Creator, Best Indigenous Language Film across different regions, Best Scripted and Unscripted M-Net Originals, acting categories, as well as technical awards like cinematography, editing, sound design, and costume.

Some notable entries include The Serpent’s Gift, Lisabi: A Legend Is Born, The Herd, Gingerrr, My Father’s Shadow, To Kill A Monkey, and 3 Cold Dishes, which appear across multiple categories.

The acting categories feature top industry names such as Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Femi Branch, Linda Ejiofor, Bimbo Akintola, and Sola Sobowale.

Other categories recognise excellence in writing, directing, documentary filmmaking, and television series, with productions like MTV Shuga Mashariki, The Chocolate Empire, and The Real Housewives Of Lagos earning nominations.

The Best Overall Movie category includes Gingerrr, The Herd, My Father’s Shadow, 3 Cold Dishes, The Serpent’s Gift, and Behind The Scenes.

The awards continue to celebrate creativity and excellence across Africa’s film and television industry, bringing together talents from different regions of the continent.
