Lawyers representing former BBNaija housemate Bella Okagbue have rejected the defamation claims filed against her by her former boyfriend, Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo, further intensifying the dispute between the ex-reality TV couple.
In a letter dated August 24, 2026, Bella’s legal representatives described the allegations in the cease-and-desist notice issued on Sheggz’s behalf as “spurious and baseless.”
The lawyers maintained that Bella’s social media posts were simply reflections of her personal experiences and emotions, arguing that they did not amount to defamatory statements or contain claims capable of harming Sheggz’s reputation.
The legal team further alleged that Sheggz breached a promise to marry Bella and misrepresented his intentions during their relationship, actions they claimed amounted to deceit.
Bella’s lawyers also accused Sheggz of obtaining multiple loans from their client under false pretences, stating that they possessed evidence to support the allegation and would pursue the matter in a court of competent jurisdiction.
They rejected demands for a retraction, apology and cease-and-desist order, insisting that Bella had not made any false or defamatory statements against her former partner.
The lawyers additionally accused a member of Sheggz’s legal team of repeatedly contacting Bella through unsolicited messages, phone calls and video calls at odd hours, warning the lawyer to refrain from such conduct.
The latest development comes amid the ongoing public fallout between the former BBNaija stars.
