Burna Boy is my number one artiste in Nigeria, 2Baba declares

The legendary Nigerian singer, 2Baba, has named Grammy-winning star Burna Boy as his personal “number one” artist in the country.

The veteran praised Burna Boy as the “senior” figure among the new generation of Afrobeats artistes during an interview with Urban Radio.

2Baba, whose classic African Queen was recently named by Billboard as the greatest Afrobeats song of all time, highlighted Burna Boy’s “leadership and consistency.”

“There are some people already up there. Among them, we have the ones who are plain hardworking, and we have the ones who have the talent but have decided to do the commercial thing,” he said.

“We have Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Olamide; it’s a long list. But on a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one.

“Although I still have others whose style and the way they carry themselves I really like, to answer this question, Burna Boy is my number one right now.

“I say that because he is the senior among the people I’m referring to.”

Billboard had described African Queen as “a love letter to a generation of women from the continent,” applauding its heartfelt lyrics and iconic video.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s 2018 hit Ye also earned a place on Billboard’s list of the top 10 Afrobeats songs of all time.
