Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or the Area Father, has mocked former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo after he criticised President Bola Tinubu over the country’s economic situation.
Dokubo, a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), reportedly urged Tinubu to surrender and step aside, citing the hardship experienced by Nigerians.
In a video shared on social media, Dokubo was seen brandishing a sword and singing a war song while questioning the President’s ability to address the country’s challenges.
Reacting to the video, Charly Boy suggested that Dokubo’s criticism might be linked to the presidency’s alleged failure to renew his benefits or patronage.
While brandishing the sword, Dokubo said:
“Tinubu, na me dey tell you, you no go fit fight. Tinubu surrender. The country too hard. This country is too hard. We dey vex. Look, out fuel, everything is too expensive in this country.
“Everything is too expensive. We have refineries but they’re not working in this country. Nothing is working in this country and we’ll not continue in this situation. We’re hungry. We’re hungry. We’re hungry and this must stop. It must stop.”
Sharing the video on X, Charly Boy wrote:
“Asari say make Tinubu surrender.
“Say country too hard. Bulaba never renew him subscription.”
