Chinedu Ikedieze bags traditional chieftaincy title in Abia

The Nollywood actor popularly known as Aki, Chinedu Ikedieze, has been honoured with a traditional title by his community in Abia state.

The actor announced the recognition in an Instagram post on Monday, where he introduced himself with his new title and expressed his excitement.

“My people, I present to you Chief Chinedu Ikedieze MFR, IHIE 1 of ELUOMA UZUAKOLI AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY ABIA STATE,” he wrote.

The title is seen as recognition of his contributions to the entertainment industry and the impact he has made within and beyond his community over the years.

The honour has since attracted congratulatory messages from fans, colleagues, and friends, many of whom described it as well deserved.

Ikedieze is one of Nollywood’s most popular comic actors, widely known for his roles alongside Osita ‘Pawpaw’ Iheme.

‘Aki na Ukwa’, a 2002 comedy film, marked the breakthrough of both actors and also established their on-screen partnership as ‘Aki and Paw Paw’.

In 2023, he revealed how he first met Osita, recalling an incident in Aba, Abia state, where a market woman mistakenly gave him Osita’s clothes after confusing them.

He also noted that people had often pointed out their resemblance before they eventually met, adding that their meeting felt “destined to be”.

In 2021, the duo thrilled fans again by remaking the classic movie.

Both actors have also received several awards and honorary recognitions for their contributions to Nollywood.
