Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced a three-night concert residency at the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, scheduled for December.
The singer revealed the plans on his verified Instagram page on Friday, announcing “Oriadè: The Residency”, which will run from December 17 to 19.
In the caption accompanying the announcement, Davido wrote: “LAGOS!!! We bringing it HOME! 15 years of madness and there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
“The world has shown us so much love,” he said in the Instagram post.
The announcement included videos of Davido performing to large crowds, as well as footage showing Lagos and the National Theatre.
The residency will see the singer take the stage at the National Theatre on three consecutive nights.
The concerts will mark 15 years of Davido’s career in music. He gained national prominence in 2011 following the release of the hit single “Dami Duro” and has since established himself as one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.
His catalogue features chart-topping songs including “If,” “Fall,” “Aye,” as well as international collaborations that have contributed to the spread of Afrobeats across major stages around the world.
Davido has sold out arenas across Africa, Europe and North America and remains one of the prominent figures in the Afrobeats genre.
