Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has revealed the secret behind her 24-year-long marriage to Nnamdi Oboli.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omoni explained that the strength of their marriage stems from a decision they made before tying the knot choosing to rule out divorce as an option.
“Staying married for over two decades. First things first, you have to decide. It’s a decision. From day one, we decided that divorce was not an option even before we got married,” Omoni revealed.
She stated that this commitment has been instrumental in helping them navigate the ups and downs of marriage, including a particularly challenging first year together.
The mother of three also stressed the importance of forgiveness in sustaining a healthy relationship, noting that this mindset has allowed them to resolve conflicts and grow stronger as a couple.
She said, “There’s almost nothing someone can do that you can’t forgive, if you want to forgive. We all have to realise that we’re all sinners.”
The filmmaker shared that her love story was far from traditional—Nnamdi proposed just two weeks after they met, and they tied the knot four months later. Omoni admitted she was young and uncertain at the time but was drawn in by the way Nnamdi genuinely loved her.
Nnamdi, on his part, offered advice to young couples, emphasizing the need to take responsibility as a key to sustaining a successful marriage.
“Marriage is a responsibility. You don’t go into a marriage expecting it to happen to you. You are the relationship. It’s between two people; you have to make it work,” she advised.
