Eight convicted for 2016 Paris robbery of Kim Kardashian

Eight out of ten individuals have been found guilty for their part in the multi-million dollar crime, which took place in a Paris hotel nearly ten years after Kim Kardashian was taken at gunpoint.

On Friday, a Paris court convicted the men and sentenced seven of them to three to eight years in jail.

None of them will go back to prison, though, because of their elderly age—six are in their 60s and 70s—and health issues.

Out of the ten defendants, two were found not guilty.

In October 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, the reality TV personality was robbed of an estimated $10 million worth of jewels, including a diamond engagement ring.

The assailants, some disguised as police officers, bound and gagged her in her hotel room. The reality star was also dragged to the bathroom and left there while the men left the receptionist in a side room near the hotel lobby and escaped.

Kardashian managed to loosen her hand ties against the edge of the bathroom sink.

During her testimony earlier this month, Kardashian said she feared for her life during the attack.

“I absolutely did think I was gonna die,” she said.

“They picked me up off the bed and grabbed me and took me down the hallway to look for more jewelry, more stuff.”

When delivering his verdict, David De Pas, the presiding judge, told the defendants that the “sentences are quite lenient; I understand that you understand that you have caused harm.”

He said that “the state of health of the main protagonists ethically prohibits incarcerating anyone”.

“It would have been unjust to take you to prison this evening.”

The reality star, who was not present for the verdict, said in a statement on Friday that “the crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family.”

“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.”
