‘For N1bn, i’ll take you down’ — Portable challenges Anthony Joshua to boxing fight

The controversial singer-songwriter, Portable, has said he is ready to “take Anthony Joshua down” if offered a ₦1 billion fight purse.

The musician issued the challenge on Thursday during a public face-off ahead of his exhibition bout with streamer Carter Efe.

While calling out Joshua, Portable described himself as the face of “Nigerian boxing”, insisting that no one can take the “belt” from him.

Portable and Carter Efe are set to clash in a boxing match on May 1 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In February, Portable disclosed that he received ₦40 million for agreeing to the fight with the streamer.

He also revealed that businessman E-Money and music producer Soso Soberekon each pledged ₦50 million and a car if he wins the bout.

Carter Efe, on his part, said he accepted the challenge after being informed by Soberekon that the winner would earn ₦50 million.

Portable has been active in celebrity boxing, having defeated Speed Darlington in April 2025.

He also recorded victories over actor Charles Okocha in December 2023 and Kelvin Power, bodyguard to Kizz Daniel, in February 2024.
