How Firstborn responsibilities shaped me – Fireboy DML

Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML has talked about his early years, emphasising the responsibilities that come with being the firstborn.

Fireboy talked about having to go to public school in order for his siblings to go to private school in an interview on the 90s Baby show.

He said this responsibility instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility, which he believes is inherent in being the eldest.

Fireboy DML said: “There was a time I had to go to public school so my siblings could go to private school. I heard the word “you have to be responsible “ for years. I think it comes naturally as a first born.

“You’re responsible for your siblings and upholding the family name. I didn’t become a ‘man’ until I left home and went to university. That was when I realized I was been shielded from a lot of things”.
