Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has disclosed that he once had the chance to meet American rapper and business mogul Jay-Z but was unable to attend the occasion.
In a recent interview with BBC Focus on Africa, Mr Eazi said he received an invitation to the 2019 premiere of The Lion King after contributing to Beyoncé’s album, The Lion King: The Gift. Jay-Z was also expected to attend the event.
However, the singer explained that he missed the opportunity because he had a prior commitment to perform at a concert scheduled for the same day.
Mr Eazi described meeting Jay-Z as a significant moment he would have cherished, noting that he looks up to the American star as a mentor in both music and business.
Despite missing the opportunity, the Nigerian artiste said he remains hopeful that he will get the chance to meet Jay-Z in the future.
“I look up to Jay-Z in both music and entrepreneurship. I worked with Beyoncé on the Lion King music project. I was supposed to go to the movie premiere. Jay-Z was going to be there. But I was already paid to perform at a concert. So, I was like, ‘Okay, if I am meant to meet Jay-Z, it would happen another time’,” he stated.
The singer also revealed that he now has businesses in over 20 African countries.
“Right now, there are over 20 countries where I am directly or indirectly involved in business activities across Africa. Right now, we are investing in sports with a long-term goal,” Mr Eazi said.
