The Nigerian standup comedian, Seyi Law, has openly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu , stating that he is “willing to stake everything on him”.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention in on Friday, Seyi Law explained that his firm position is based on his belief that Tinubu pulled Nigeria back from an “economic collapse”.
He also maintained that the country’s national reserves have improved significantly since the president took office.
“And I said to myself, if I was to introduce Mr President, how would I do it? And I just said I will let people know that this is a man that I am willing to stake everything for because he is the man that brought Nigeria back from the brink of economic collapse when our national reserve stood at barely $1 billion,” he said.
“But today we celebrate our national reserve that is about $40 billion and our gross reserve that is at about $50.7 billion.”
Seyi Law had previously endorsed Tinubu as his preferred candidate in the 2023 general elections.
The comedian recently came under public criticism after he claimed that the country “is currently safer under the Tinubu administration than it was a decade ago”.
He later responded to the backlash by issuing a public apology, admitting that his wording was inappropriate and describing the statement as a mistake.
