‘I didn’t retire, I took break’ – Timaya

Nigerian singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, widely known as Timaya, has clarified that he hasn’t retired from music. The ‘Dem Mama’ hitmaker explained that he’s simply taking a break, not stepping away for good — calling it a nap, not a retirement.

On his X handle, the singer wrote, “No be say the boy retire, the boy just been dey sleep….”

Timaya launched his solo career in 2005 with the release of his debut single, ‘Dem Mama’, a powerful song that reflected on the Odi massacre in his native Bayelsa State. The following year, he dropped his first album, True Story, which firmly established him as a star.

Over the span of 20 years, Timaya has released eight studio albums, one EP, and numerous singles. His talent has also led to international collaborations with artists such as Sean Paul and Morgan Heritage.
