Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has explained why she would not pursue a romantic relationship with a Nigerian male celebrity.
Speaking during an interview at the BET Awards over the weekend, Tems responded to a question about whether she would approach Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who has recently attracted attention for his looks.
The singer said the fact that they are both Nigerians makes it difficult for her to view him in a romantic way.
The ‘Love Me Jeje’ crooner explained that she is not interested in a romantic relationship with fellow Nigerian celebrities, adding that she sees them as “brothers.”
She said, “I know who Maduka Okoye is but I don’t know him personally. I wish I did though. But shooting shots at him, we don’t do that over here.
“We [Nigerian celebrities] friend each others and we are family. I see my male colleagues as brothers.”
