I spend up to $300,000 monthly in Nigeria- Davido

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his monthly personal expenses in Nigeria can reach between $200,000 and $300,000, excluding major costs such as his wife’s expenses, household upkeep, luxury cars and jewellery.

The Afrobeats star made the disclosure during a live conversation on Davrel Twitch on Tuesday, where he compared his spending habits in Nigeria with those in the United States.

According to Davido, he spends significantly less in the US because his household there consists of only himself, his wife and their children.

“I actually spend less in Yankee because I live with just me, my wife and my kids.

“When I’m around, I spend a lot more. We are balling every day,” he said.

When asked to estimate his monthly expenditure, the singer said it typically ranges between $200,000 and $300,000, noting that the figure covers only his personal spending.

“I can’t tell you how much, but I can tell you like 300. Normally, probably like 200 to 300.

“This is minus my wife and the house… that one is closed. Minus buying jewellery or buying car,” he said.

Davido also recently announced plans to establish a mental health therapy centre for former celebrities struggling to cope with life after fame.

Speaking on the proposed initiative, he said:

“If there is one thing I could do, I would build a centre for people that have been popular and very successful before.”
