‘I’m sorry, Bryan’: Blessing CEO shares tearful apology after son’s death, prison release

Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for her past remarks, admitting that she has learnt a painful lesson and is willing to make amends.

She made the emotional appeal in a video shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, days after regaining her freedom from custody and amid the grief surrounding the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan.

Bryan reportedly died in a hospital on June 8, 2026, while his mother was being held at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over separate fraud allegations.

The young boy, who reportedly battled chronic asthma, had experienced recurring health challenges from childhood.

Since being released on bail in late October, Blessing CEO has publicly expressed her grief and regret over not being present with her son before his death.

In the latest video, she was seen crying inside a car, explaining that she left home because she did not want her mother to witness her emotional state.

“I had to run away from the house. I’m inside the car because I don’t want my mum to see me like this. My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb,” she said.

The social media personality acknowledged that some of her previous comments might have hurt people, admitting that she had spoken carelessly about experiences she had never personally endured.

“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.

Reflecting on the criticism she received, Okoro admitted that words were not enough to demonstrate genuine change, stressing that actions mattered more than promises.

“I’m realising that talk is cheap. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears,” she added.

Describing herself as emotionally exhausted, she appealed to those who felt offended by her statements to forgive her.

“I’m sorry if my words have affected you in any way. Now I can feel the pain, and I don’t even wish it for my worst enemy. Maybe I was just ignorant. Life has taught me a lesson,” she said.

She also extended her apology to people who had continued to support her despite the controversies, as well as those who had withdrawn their affection because of her actions.

“To those who still love me despite everything, I’m sorry. To those who no longer love me because of my actions, I’m sorry,” she said.

Okoro likened her return to her family to the biblical story of the prodigal son, insisting that she was not ashamed of seeking comfort in a place where she had previously been loved and accepted.

“I’m back home like the prodigal son in the Bible. I’m not ashamed of coming back home where I was celebrated and had everything in abundance. Instead of eating crumbs on the table, this is me making a U-turn,” she said.

She further pleaded for another opportunity to rebuild her life, promising to leave her past mistakes behind and start afresh.

“I’m not ashamed to be lost. I just want to find my way back. Let’s start all over again. Now I have learnt my lesson in a very hard way, and I’m sorry,” she added.

The emotional video also featured a heartfelt message to her late son, whom she affectionately called Doom Doom, as she expressed how deeply she missed him and promised to correct her mistakes.

“To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong. I’m ready to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven,” she said.

She disclosed that Bryan’s death had continued to affect the entire family, particularly his grandmother, revealing that they sometimes cried privately to avoid seeing each other in pain.

“Your brother misses you so much. Granny has been crying. In fact, me and your granny used to hide to cry. I saw my mum break down this morning, and I couldn’t even look at her face,” she said.

Okoro also spoke about how other members of the family, including Bryan’s father, brother and relatives, continued to feel his absence.

Recounting some of the things she wished to hold on to, she expressed a desire to collect her son’s school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books as part of coming to terms with his death.

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late. I don’t know, but I’m sorry,” she said.

Towards the end of the video, the social media personality spoke about the overwhelming weight of her grief, praying for divine intervention as she struggled to cope with losing her child.

“I’m praying that God finds me before it’s too late to shut down my heart and me to bury my own child. The pain is too much,” she said.
