‘It’s far better when a northerner rules,’ Davido’s aide Israel DMW backs Atiku for 2027

Israel ‘DMW’ Afeare, logistics manager to Afrobeats star Davido, has declared his support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Afeare announced his preference in a recent Instagram post, arguing that Nigeria performs better under northern leadership and questioning the award of a ₦15 trillion contract to one individual.

“It is always far better when a northern Nigerian rules,” he said.

“₦15 trillion contract to one person alone? I’m voting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

The logistics manager also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow Nigerians to freely choose their next president.

“INEC should please allow Nigerians to freely choose whoever they want to govern them in January 2027,” he said, adding, “A good name is far better than money.

“Nigerians should also please disregard the 2.5m votes coming out from Edo State.

“Adams Oshiomhole remains the most loved and widely accepted governor in Edo State, winning 18 over 18, he could not deliver 500k votes to his party. His party failed to win in Edo, two times during the presidential elections.”

Davido recently revealed that he had yet to decide which presidential candidate to support in the 2027 election.

The ‘Assurance’ singer said that although his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, had endorsed President Bola Tinubu, he did not feel compelled to follow suit.

The Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star attributed his previous political affiliations to family connections. He said he supported Atiku when they were both in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and backed the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, when the party emerged from a merger involving his late uncle.

Davido added that his position could change but maintained that he would not support the APC in the 2027 election.
