‘I’ve never slept with anyone for movie roles’ – Nollywood actress replies critics

The Nigerian actress better known as Kemity, Kemisola Apesin, has dismissed allegations that she traded sexual favours to secure movie roles.

The rumours emerged amid renewed online tension between actor Austine Emmanuel and his longtime rival, Ibrahim ‘Itele’ Yekini. During the social media debate, a user dragged Kemity into the discussion, claiming she was romantically involved with Itele and alleging knowledge of past sexual transactions by the actress.

In response, Kemity addressed the issue on Instagram with a detailed Throwback Thursday post, asserting that her success in Nollywood is a result of hard work, consistency, and talent—not personal favors.

She shared that long before gaining recognition in the film industry, she was already financially independent, owning two wine shops and working as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo, Lagos.

“I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity,” she stated.

“Before I even met my boss, I already had two wine shops where I was selling wine. I worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo.”

Kemity also reflected on her career journey, explaining her shift from acting to makeup artistry and back to acting, noting that the transition was driven by the financial demands of film production.

“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she added.

A mother of two daughters, Kemity highlighted the importance of her legacy and upbringing, describing herself as “a child of a churchwoman,” and insisted that her reputation remains intact.

“My name is clean. No one — and I mean no one — can ever come out boldly to say I used my body to collect anything from him,” she concluded.
