Nigerian singer Spyro has spoken out about the personal and professional sacrifices he’s made due to his commitment to his Christian faith.
In a series of Instagram story posts, the ‘Who’s Your Guy’ crooner, whose real name is Olusipe David, shared that he has turned down multi-million naira endorsement deals and independently funds his shows as a result of his religious beliefs.
Spyro explained that he rejected the endorsement offers because they conflicted with his Christian values, describing them as “anti-Christ.” He also noted that no brands are willing to sponsor him, which he attributes to his outspoken stance on his faith.
The 27-year-old artist added that, surprisingly, the strongest opposition he faces comes from fellow Christians—people he once considered part of his spiritual family.
“Let me be vulnerable with you guys here today… The biggest temptations I have had has been within the last two years of my life knowing I can afford some certain lifestyle and can also get away with many things yet choosing not to,” he wrote.
“Turning down endorsements worth several millions because they are Antichrist ain’t easy, sponsoring my shows myself because most brands don’t wanna associate with the Jesus brand is hard @ and in all of these the family (Christian’s) that should cover are my greatest enemies.
“So when people call me names and call me hypocrite,I just smile, how can I be acting perfect when I know I am far from it, I have my struggles I have considered giving it all up several times but when I think of what JESUS himself went through just for me It renews my strength…
“But to be honest with ya’ll it ain’t easy bearing the flag like ya’ll think it is, I suffer for it everyday and if not that I am sure that JESUS IS REAL I would have backed down why the devil keeps throwing temptations at me but we stand in Christ.
“It is amazing how many Men have messaged me just now as regards my last story post about struggles with women.
“Comrades it is very normal to be tempted, do not feel bad about that.I think it is paramount to stress that JESUS understands exactly how we feel hence Hebrews 4:15.
“God knows it will be hard to withstand SIN by ourselves which is why he made provision for THE HOLY SPIRIT(HELPER). So comrades,the solution is THE HOLYSPIRIT.”
