Iyabo ojo reacts as Tanzanian media personality calls out daughter, husband online

Actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has fiercely criticized Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi over her advice to her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, and husband, Juma Jux.

Kimambi had suggested that Priscilla avoid posting affectionate photos and videos on social media until after Tanzania’s elections.

Iyabo took to Instagram to express her disapproval, calling out Mange for her audacity and what she saw as an attempt to intimidate her daughter.

She emphasised that as a parent, she has taught Priscilla to be confident and authentic, and she won’t be dictated to.

Iyabo also clarified that rumors about the government funding their wedding were false, explaining that the expenses were covered by the wife’s family as per cultural tradition.

She affirmed her protective stance over Priscilla, stating that her daughter would post whatever she likes, whenever she likes.

Iyabo criticised Mange for overstepping, highlighting the difference in their locations and questioning Mange’s authority to advise her daughter and son-in-law.

She wrote on Instagram: “@mangekimambi80 I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner, calling their content stupīd, and trying to drum fear and intimidation is unacceptable. As a parent, I’ve taught her to be confident and authentic. The Mkambala are very peaceful, but note that I don’t joke with my daughter.

“Regarding the wedding rumours, it’s not your government that gave us money; it’s a cultural tradition in my family. The wife’s family covers costs. I wanted an elaborate wedding for my daughter in Nigeria, and we, the Nigerians, gave her one.

“I’m an activist, and as one, I stand by my principles and fight for what I believe in, without insulting anyone or targeting anyone. True leadership requires presence and courage. It’s laughable that you, living in America, think you can dictate to my daughter and her husband, who are living their lives in Tanzania.

“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when, and how she likes. She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well-loved, We protect our own. Never forget that”.
