Jay-Z to headline 2027 Super Bowl halftime show in California

US rapper Jay-Z is set to headline the halftime show at the 2027 Super Bowl in California.

The National Football League (NFL), Roc Nation and Apple Music announced on Monday that the rapper would lead the halftime entertainment at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 14, 2027.

In a statement, Jay-Z described the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show as a dream come true, reflecting on his three-decade career in music and culture.

“From reasonable doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true,” he said.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also expressed excitement about Jay-Z’s scheduled performance, praising his contribution to the halftime show and revealing that he had long hoped the rapper would perform at the event.

“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show.” Goodell said.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, will serve as the executive producer of the halftime show. The company has worked with the NFL as its live music entertainment strategist since 2019, although this will mark Jay-Z’s first performance at the event.

As part of its partnership with the league, Roc Nation helps select the performer for the Super Bowl halftime show each year. The announcement has prompted speculation about whether Jay-Z selected himself for the upcoming performance.

In March, the rapper dismissed claims that Kendrick Lamar’s selection to perform at the previous year’s Super Bowl was intended to undermine Drake.
