American film and television production company Marvel Studios has reportedly selected a new actor to take on the role of Black Panther in the franchise’s third instalment.
The studio is said to have chosen British actor David Jonsson to succeed the late Chadwick Boseman as the new Black Panther.
The 32-year-old is expected to portray T’Challa’s son, a character who was briefly introduced in the second Black Panther film.
The director, Ryan Coogler, spoke about the new addition to the cast, confirming Jonsson’s role as the new Black Panther.
“The last time we got to make a movie, we introduced a character who is the son of the character that the great Chadwick Boseman played. And today, I want to tell you that in this next film, he grows up, he comes of age,” Coogler said.
Jonsson, also expressed his gratitude for the role, describing it as a blessing and an honour.
“Thank you to this family that I have the honour and the blessing to join. I don’t want to say too much, because I want to let the screen do the talking,” he said.
