Gospel musician and minister Nathaniel Bassey has made history by becoming the first African gospel artiste to record more than one billion views on YouTube.
Statistics from his official YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, indicate that it had accumulated over 1.014 billion views and 5.24 million subscribers as of November 1, 2026.
Bassey launched the channel on March 4, 2011, meaning the milestone reflects more than 15 years of regular music releases, worship sessions and ministry broadcasts on the platform.
The milestone comes during the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, the midnight worship and prayer movement he started in 2017, which has drawn participants from across the world and contributed to a surge in viewership.
The achievement marks significant growth for African gospel music in the global digital space.
