The veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, is grieving the loss of his newborn daughter, Omayinuwa, just a day after publicly announcing her arrival.
The actor had shared on Saturday that he and his wife, Olufunmilayo, had welcomed their first child together, but the joy quickly turned to mourning by Sunday.
In an emotional Facebook post, Patrick disclosed that the baby passed away shortly after birth. He noted that although her time with them was “short”, it “brought joy”, adding that they had wished she had lived longer. The cause of death was not revealed.
“Omayinuwa visited us briefly at about 10:40 am on Friday 10th April and returned to heaven on Saturday 11th of April at about 4:15 pm. Her stay was short but it brought great joy with it. We would wished for a longer stay, but alas heaven thought otherwise,” he wrote.
“This much we know though, God still rules in the affairs of men. Our faith in the goodness of God remains resolute regardless. Sibe’ sibe’ Oluwa n’be’. It is well with our soul.”
Patrick was previously married to actress Ireti Doyle, with their divorce finalised in early 2023.
He married Olufunmilayo in 2022, although he made their union public in March 2023.
