Nollywood actress arrest employee for ‘stealing N3m’ from her weeks after hiring

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has facilitated the arrest of a staff member accused of stealing three million naira from her business account.

Martins shared details of the incident in a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday.

According to the actress, she employed the young man about two weeks ago after he repeatedly sent emails requesting a job. She said he was engaged as her online sales manager, a position that gave him access to her phones, social media platforms, and website.

She explained that the alleged theft was discovered on December 22, shortly after she hosted a cooking show with reality TV star Tacha Akide.

Martins said she noticed that two million naira had been withdrawn from her bank account, and a few days later, an additional one million naira was transferred from the same account.

The actress revealed that an investigation by her bank traced the suspicious transfers to her newly employed staff member.

She added that after uncovering the incident, she tactically delayed the suspect, who had begun trying to leave her residence, claiming to be ill.

Martins said she insisted he remain behind to help complete a charity cooking project, preventing him from leaving immediately.

She noted that the police were subsequently informed and later took the suspect into custody. The actress further alleged that the employee went as far as creating a fake application to send her death threats.

In a video shared online, the suspect was seen sitting on the floor while being questioned. Another image showed him writing a statement at a police station with his hands cuffed.

“While I was crying over my 2m that was moved from my account by him to his accomplice account, he moved extra 1m and still made sure he deleted the debit notification,” she wrote.

“This was boy that was all over my Email beging for job opportunity and wen he was finally given the opportunity to work wit me he hacked into mv account n stole the first 2m within his first 7davs of working with.

“And while I was busy cooking for Ratels on Saturday he moved another 1m making it a total of 3m.

“Just yesterday wen he realized I called out Zenith bank over the fraudulent activities on my account he started forming sick n wanted to leave yesterday morning.

“We had a cooking project and I insisted he stays till we re done cooking for charity yesterday.

“I’m done being good. Going forward, no matter how touching your story is, l’m not taking chances anymore!”
