Nollywood actress recounts near-death experience

Actress Racheal Adelaja has opened up about a recent near-death experience, expressing heartfelt gratitude to God for preserving her life.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, she thanked God for giving her a second chance, saying, “Oba Alapadupe. The God who owns my life, the One who didn’t let me die before my time, I say Thank You, Lord.”

Racheal also extended her gratitude to those who reached out and stood by her during the challenging time.

However, she didn’t shy away from criticizing certain colleagues who, despite knowing about her condition, chose to remain silent.

She expressed disappointment that instead of offering support, some opted to gossip behind her back—adding that the same individuals would have been among the first to post glowing tributes if she had passed away.

Her remarks have since stirred discussions around empathy and the authenticity of support within the entertainment industry.

She said, “A few months ago, I embarked on a journey I wasn’t sure I’d return from… but Mercy said no. God came through for me and gave me another chance at life. I’m deeply grateful.

“To everyone who showed concern, stood by me, prayed for me, or reached out, may you never know sorrow.

“To those who noticed my sudden absence on all social media and checked in, I truly appreciate you. E o ni fi iru e gba lagbara Olorun.

“As for some of my Nollywood colleagues…You heard about what happened, yet not a single call or text, but you had the time to discuss me at different locations. It’s painful, but still, I thank God. If I had died, some of you would have written the longest tributes online.

“But God didn’t make me a headline through death. He gave me life, and for that, I return all the glory to Him”.
