[PHOTOS] 2Baba, Natasha Osawaru wed in private traditional ceremony

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has traditionally married Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru in a low-key ceremony.

Although the event was held privately, photos and videos from the occasion emerged on social media on Thursday, capturing the couple dressed in elegant traditional outfits.

2Baba was seen wearing a white short-sleeved native top with grey embroidery, paired with a white wrapper tied around his waist.

He complemented his outfit with coral bead accessories adorning his neck and wrists, paired with white shoes, dark sunglasses, and a beaded staff.

Natasha wore a striking red off-shoulder gown, crowned with the traditional Edo ‘okuku’ hairstyle crafted from coral beads. Her look was further enhanced by coral bead layers around her neck, shoulders, and arms, proudly reflecting her heritage.

The wedding took place just six months after the singer publicly confirmed his separation from longtime partner and wife of 12 years, Annie Macaulay.

Despite widespread attention, 2Baba clarified that his relationship with Natasha had no connection to his split from Annie.

Their relationship first entered the public spotlight in early February when 2Baba proposed to Natasha on Valentine’s Eve.

A pivotal moment came in April when Natasha visited the singer’s mother, Rose Idibia. The visit followed a viral video in which Mrs. Idibia tearfully urged Natasha to “remove the beads” from her son, hinting at spiritual concerns. However, she later gave her blessing—widely interpreted as a sign of acceptance.

In an interview on the 234 Mzansi podcast, 2Baba spoke openly about his new beginning with Natasha, saying his connection to her was based on emotional alignment rather than physical attraction.

He also addressed his past with Annie, calling her an “amazing” woman and emphasizing that their separation was mutual and without bitterness.

Now serving as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, 2Baba used the interview to advise couples not to be pressured by society in staying in unhappy marriages.

“If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it. But if it still doesn’t work, no one should be forced to stay. Only the couple inside knows what they are going through. This thing they call ‘living in bondage’ is real,” he said.

Meanwhile, Annie publicly confirmed their split at the 17th Headies Awards held in Lagos on April 28.

The couple had a long history—welcoming their first child in 2008, getting engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and hosting a high-profile white wedding in Dubai in 2013.

However, their union was plagued by controversies, especially surrounding 2Baba’s relationship with Pero Adeniyi, the mother of three of his children.

Although they renewed their vows in 2022 in a bid to mend the relationship, the marriage ultimately ended.
