The Nigerian skit maker, Kamo State, has spoken about the impact of actress Funke Akindele on his journey from creating skits to becoming an actor.
He described his connection with Funke Akindele as a divine blessing, noting that it has significantly shaped his career path.
According to him, beyond offering opportunities, she has played a key role in guiding and moulding his growth in the entertainment industry.
He added that her role goes beyond that of a boss, as she is deeply invested in his progress and constantly challenges him to improve.
“Meeting Aunty Funke is something I have never taken for granted. She didn’t just give me opportunities, she refined me, corrected me and showed me what excellence truly means in this industry,” he said.
“She is more than a boss to me because she genuinely wants to see you grow. There are moments she even pushes me beyond limits, but I always know it’s for my own good.”
Born Akinyoola Ayoola, Kamo State started out as a skit maker, gaining popularity for his comic portrayal of a dramatic police officer.
In recent years, he has moved into acting, appearing in several films and earning recognition as one of Nollywood’s top-grossing actors, with roles in nine cinema productions.
These films include ‘Ginger’, ‘Warlord’, ‘Behind The Scenes’, ‘Abanisete’, ‘Adunni’, ‘EverybodyLoves Jenifa’, and ‘Labake Olododo’.
