Nigerian Afro House star, Niniola Apata, has opened up about the painful memory of witnessing her father, retired Brigadier-General Simeon Apata, being assassinated in 1995.
Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On Air, Niniola revealed that the tragedy, which took place in their Lagos residence, has had a profound and enduring effect on her life.
“I was in the house when my dad was murdered. And I was his favourite child, so you can imagine [the trauma].
“Till today, I’m not over it. I can never get over it,” she said.
The singer added that her young age at the time made it more difficult to process the tragedy.
“I was very young when it happened. I don’t remember my exact age then but it wasn’t a good memory,” the ‘Ginger Me’ crooner stated.
Her sister, Teniola Apata, also a singer, revealed in multiple interviews that witnessing their father’s assassination at the age of two left her traumatised.
