Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s first child, Imade, has addressed backlash regarding her absence from Davido’s birthday event, dismissing rumours that she stopped their daughter from attending.
In a Snapchat update, Sophia explained her stance, describing it as an act of maternal protection and criticising the circulation of unverified claims.
She stressed that safeguarding her daughter’s privacy remains essential and cautioned against sharing misleading information about Imade.
In her words, “You people have been doing this false narrative thing for over 10 years now. And while I try to be as graceful as I can, I’m also a very protective mother. Say whatever you want about me, it’s ok. But leave my child alone. This is non-negotiable. Imade is not a bargaining chip for her mother to conform.”
Sophia also warned that she would pursue legal measures against anyone spreading misinformation about her daughter.
The issue arose after Imade did not appear at Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration in Atlanta, which was attended by family, friends, and his other daughter, Hailey.
