Former reality TV star and streamer, Phyna, has predicted that Nigeria’s growing streaming industry could soon collapse.
Speaking during a recent livestream with Jeffrey Benson, Phyna argued that Nigeria’s streaming boom may not be sustainable because Nigerians patronise streamers who “clip farm” and depend heavily on virality rather than building solid niches and creating meaningful impact.
She said this trend has pushed many streamers into staging stunts and telling lies simply to attract attention and increase their streams.
Reflecting on her own experience, Phyna admitted that she was also “crazy” when she started streaming but later toned things down because she could not match the energy of her male counterparts.
“Streaming in Nigeria will soon collapse because Nigerians push streamers that clip farm, go crazy and tell lies just to entertain streams. I was crazy when I started but I decided to chill because I am a lady and I can’t keep up with that,” Phyna said.
The streamer encouraged her fellow content creators to focus on producing meaningful content instead of constantly chasing clout.
