Tanzanian singer announces separation from husband, label boss Diamond Platnumz

Tanzanian singer and songwriter Zuchu has announced her separation from Diamond Platnumz, her husband and fellow musician.

The singer revealed in a post shared via her Instagram story that she and Diamond, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul, have ended their relationship and are currently going through divorce proceedings.

Zuchu described the decision as one made with a “heavy heart”, explaining that after six years together, she had chosen to prioritise herself.

The 32-year-old artiste, whose full name is Zuhura Othman Soud, also wished Diamond, 36, and his family well, saying she would now focus on healing, her health and her career.

“Hello my GPG. My former partner and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart. After six years of being together, I have finally decided to choose myself,” she wrote.

“I wish my former partner, Naseeb Abdul, and his family all the best. As for me, this is a time to heal and focus more on my health and my work. Our provision (or what was destined for us together) has come to an end.

“Praise be to Allah. We tried, but Allah has His own plans, and I have no choice but to accept them. That is human nature; that is life. Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal Wakeel.”

Reports indicate that the pair got married in June 2025 in a private ceremony.

Diamond Platnumz has yet to release any official statement concerning the separation as of the time of reporting.

Zuchu’s connection with Diamond began through her mother, which led to an audition with the founder of the Wasafi label. During the audition, she performed two songs, including a rendition of ‘Wana’, which later became her debut single and earned her a spot with WCB Wasafi.
