Veteran singer 2Baba has said that Burna Boy is currently ahead of Davido and Wizkid on the global music scene.
Speaking during an interview on MIC ON podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, the “African Queen” crooner noted that while he appreciates the work of all three superstars, Burna Boy is the one “at the top of the game” at the moment.
He explained that his view was shaped by global impact and his personal understanding of the music industry, rather than factors such as wealth, style, popularity, or fan base.
According to him, Burna Boy is “currently at the top of the chain not just in Nigeria or Africa, but globally,” even as he acknowledged that Davido and Wizkid are also doing remarkably well.
“I have my favourite songs from all of them. But if I must be put on the spot, I think Burna Boy is at the top of the game right now,” he said.
2Baba stressed that differences in musical styles make direct comparisons difficult, adding that individual tastes also influence how audiences perceive music.
“I’m speaking from a general perspective here. I don’t know anything about their bank accounts or have information about their personal success, so I can’t speak on that.
“However, based on common sense and my understanding of the music world, I think Burna Boy is currently at the top of the chain not just in Nigeria or Africa, but globally. That said, everyone in the industry is doing fantastically well,” he added.
The conversation around the supremacy of the so-called Big Three in Afrobeats has remained divisive over the years, with supporters and critics holding opposing views.
In September 2025, Tiwa Savage argued that Afrobeats extends beyond the Big Three, saying the narrative diminishes the accomplishments of other thriving artistes in the industry.
