Music star Tiwa Savage has reopened discussions about her long-standing feud with fellow singer Seyi Shay, shedding fresh light on their widely talked-about 2021 confrontation inside a salon.
During an appearance on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz on YouTube, Tiwa revealed that the dispute originated from a diss track and circulated rumours claiming she had tried to obstruct the success of other female artists in the industry.
She dismissed the allegations, clarifying that she has always stood for female empowerment in the music scene.
“I would never do that — I’m so pro-women,” Tiwa stated.
She added, “If you do something to me, I will let you know. I don’t have to let you know online. Like the whole shade thing, I’m not going to pretend like you and I are cool in a salon when you did a diss track,” referring to Seyi Shay’s verse in the 2017 Fvck You Challenge by Kizz Daniel, which sparked tension between them.
The ‘All Over’ crooner said she was taken aback by rumours suggesting she had “blocked bags” for Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani.
She said, **“That was painful, and I didn’t know where it was coming from. Till today, maybe I need to have a conversation with Shay.
“I heard that they thought I blocked their bag. How? If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention the person so I can address it.”**
Tiwa went on to counter the claims by recalling how she actually lost a major endorsement to Seyi Shay while she was pregnant with her son, Jamil.
She explained, **“When I got pregnant and had Jamil, I was taken off a Pepsi campaign, Longer Throat, and Shay was booked on it.
“Go back and check it, Shay was a brand ambassador; I wasn’t.
“I was taken off because I couldn’t snap back in time. So how am I stopping other people’s bags? I wasn’t even mad. I got in the gym and got my body back,”** she added.
Their 2021 salon clash, which went viral online, showed Tiwa confronting Seyi Shay over their unresolved issues.
While Seyi Shay once claimed she tried to reconcile, Tiwa’s latest remarks indicate that the rift was rooted in deeper industry rumours and long-standing misunderstandings dating back to 2017, fuelled by subtle shade and public drama over the years.
