[TRENDING VIDEO] Tacha admits rape allegation was false, apologises

Big Brother Naija reality star, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has admitted that a rape allegation she previously made against a man was false, saying she made the claim while emotionally distressed following the end of their relationship.

Tacha made the admission in an emotional video released amid reports that she had been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force over the allegation.

Reports of her arrest surfaced on Sunday after movie producer and Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood, Seun Oloketuyi, claimed that the reality star had been picked up at her residence in Ajah, Lagos, after allegedly failing to honour three invitations from the police between May and August 2026.

However, Tacha’s manager told P.M. NEWS that he could not confirm the reported arrest, saying he had also been unable to reach the reality star.

In the emotional video, Tacha recanted the allegation, explaining that she and the man had been in a long-term relationship and that she made the accusation after discovering that he had allegedly cheated on her with a close friend.

She said she had deeply loved the man and invested considerable time and emotion in their relationship, adding that his alleged infidelity left her devastated.

“The allegation I made was false. The truth is that we were in a long-term relationship. During the course of that relationship, he cheated on me with my close friend,” she said.

According to the reality star, she did not initially intend for the video to have such far-reaching consequences, saying she had hoped that the man would contact her privately after seeing it.

“I never intended to make that video, and causing him harm was never my goal. I never had intention that this was gonna reach this extent. I thought after seeing this video he would DM me immediately,” she said.

Tacha said she acted out of frustration and heartbreak and had been in emotional distress since discovering the alleged betrayal.

“He did not rape me. I was devastated by his recent treatment of me, and I reached a breaking point,” she said.

She further acknowledged that she had no evidence to substantiate the rape claim and accepted responsibility for making the allegation.

“I made the video because I have no evidence to substantiate my claim. I did it because I was hurt, and I wrongly assumed that my word as a woman would be believed,” she said.

Tacha appealed to Nigerians to help her reach the man involved, saying she understood that she could face arrest over the matter.

“I take full responsibility for my actions. I sincerely apologise to him, to the public, and to everyone affected. Please find it in your heart to forgive me,” she said.

The reported police action follows an earlier social media controversy involving Tacha, who in March accused a man of rape and other serious misconduct in a post on X. The circumstances surrounding the investigation and the specific allegations being examined by the police have not been independently established.

While several Nigerian media outlets have reported that Tacha was arrested, the report remained unconfirmed by the police in the latest accounts, with her manager also unable to verify her arrest.
