[VIDEO] “If I were the one…,” Peller reacts to lady who addressed Tony Elumelu by his first name

Nigerian content creator Peller has weighed in on the viral controversy surrounding a lady who addressed billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu by his first name.

The social media personality argued that the incident would likely have attracted a different reaction if the woman had come from a less privileged background or had not received formal education.

Peller noted that the lady is a graduate and questioned why she would address an older and more established individual in such a casual manner. According to him, age and social standing should naturally command a certain level of respect.

He also criticised what he described as the tendency to attribute perceived poor behaviour to a lack of education whenever the person involved comes from a disadvantaged background.

“If it was someone like us who did what that lady did to Tony Elumelu, they would start saying, ‘That is why I say education is important’. That girl is a graduate o. And she open her wide mouth say good morning Tony. Person wey be say make we leave money aside, age alone will cover you down.”

Peller further suggested that people would have been quick to conclude that an individual from a less privileged background behaved that way because they were uneducated.

“If say na person like us, dey go say na because he is uneducated. He did not go to school. Them go whine your career…”
