VIDEO: Mohbad’s wife, son receive singer’s posthumous award at 17th Headies award

The late Nigerian musician Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, received the Best Street-Hop Artiste award posthumously for his hit song “Ask About Me” at the 17th Headies Awards on Sunday.

The audience gave him a standing ovation as his family, including his wife and young son Liam, accepted the award on his behalf.

In addition to his win, Mohbad’s music collaboration with Chike, “Egwu”, won the Headies viewers choice award as he also earned multiple posthumous nominations, including Best Collaboration for “Egwu” and Afrobeats Single of the Year for the same track.

These nominations and his posthumous recognition underscore the enduring resonance of his music and the irreplaceable void his passing has left in the industry.

The ceremony also featured a heartfelt tribute, celebrating Mohbad’s profound impact on the music industry and the legacy he left behind.
