Popular Nigerian Fuji musician Saheed Osupa, also known as “Oba Orin,” has reacted to a recent allegation by fellow Fuji singer, Sulaimon Alao Malaika, who described him as a “real thug” during the height of their rivalry in the Fuji music industry.
Osupa responded to the claim during a recent performance, choosing a calm approach rather than engaging Malaika in a public exchange.
Malaika had recently appeared on Oyinmomo TV, where he discussed his past rivalry with Osupa and acknowledged that the two musicians were involved in several physical confrontations when they were younger.
He maintained that he was never a thug but claimed Osupa had a reputation for being confrontational and always ready to fight.
In his words, “King Saheed Osupa and I fought so much back in the day. I am not a thug, but Saheed used to be a real thug as he is always ready to fight; old age finally changed him.”
Rather than respond aggressively, Osupa appeared unfazed by the comment and avoided engaging his colleague in a war of words.
The Fuji singer suggested that some people might be hoping to see him return to the controversial personality associated with his younger days, particularly because he had stayed away from such public drama for some time.
Osupa also reflected on how his relationship with Malaika and other members of the Fuji community has evolved over the years.
He described Malaika as a friend and noted that despite their age difference, they have maintained a cordial relationship.
The singer further disclosed that he enjoys good relationships with other prominent Fuji musicians, including Abass Akande Obesere and Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Pasuma.
Osupa said he has reached a point in his life and career where physical confrontations and unnecessary controversies no longer have a place.
He stressed that the era of fights and intense rivalry among Fuji musicians should be left behind, adding that he now values peace, maturity and healthy relationships with his colleagues.
