The wife of actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, has opened up on her views about infidelity in marriage.
Speaking during a recent episode of the ‘Moments with Toke’ podcast, Toyosi explained that, in her personal view, cheating does not automatically qualify as a deal breaker.
She stressed that her position should not be seen as promoting infidelity, but rather as an acknowledgment that such situations can occur in marriages.
According to Toyosi, cheating is not limited to one gender, noting that either partner in a marriage can be vulnerable to it.
“Cheating is not a deal breaker for me. And this is not encouraging cheating. Men are more aware now that cheating can happen from both sides. Women have more self-control,” she said.
“Both husband and wife have to make efforts in the marriage.”
She also spoke about the unique pressures faced by couples in the entertainment industry, revealing that she once set up and coordinated a prayer group called ‘Wives of Entertainers’.
Toyosi said the group served as a spiritual support platform where spouses prayed against negative influences, including what she described as “the spirit of sorcery” and various forms of immorality that could affect their husbands.
“I created the Wives of Entertainers group. So that Jezebel will not carry them. I believe people can be lured. So, in our prayer group, we pray. It is no longer on,” she said.
She added that the entertainment industry comes with peculiar challenges, including exposure to drugs and other vices, noting that the role of a wife’s prayers differs from that of a girlfriend.
“I will pray for my husband because I have a commitment to him. There are peculiar things we were dealing with that have to do with the industry,” she said.
Toyosi further noted that many people lose focus and values in the industry, sometimes to the detriment of their families and children.
Daniel Etim-Effiong and Toyosi tied the knot in November 2017 and welcomed their first child in January 2019. In 2021, they announced the birth of their son, and last year, the couple celebrated the arrival of their third child.
