Why I am yet to remarry — Nollywood actress

The Nigerian actress, Damilola Adegbite, has opened up on why she has not remarried since the end of her first marriage.

In a video shared on Instagram, the film star said her decision is centred on prioritising her child’s well-being above all else.

While acknowledging that she has met “amazing men,” Adegbite noted that love alone is not enough when a child is involved.

She explained that as a single mother, her choices must go beyond personal feelings, as she is not only selecting a partner but also a potential parent for her child.

“I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, and they asked me a very important question. They asked me why I haven’t remarried after my first marriage,” she said.

“If you are a single mother or raising a child on your own, your decision-making has to be more intentional. You are no longer choosing a partner just for yourself, but also selecting someone who could become a parent figure in your child’s life.

“There is a deeper consideration — whether they possess the morals, values, and character I want my child to be influenced by.

“You must be certain that the person you allow into your life can truly take on the role of a responsible and caring parent — someone who will treat your child as their own.

“You are not only forming a relationship, you are creating a home. Make your choice carefully, not just for yourself, but for the future you are building for your children.”

Adegbite got engaged to fellow actor Chris Attoh in August 2014 after they met on the set of the soap opera ‘Tinsel’. The pair welcomed their son, Brian, the following month.

However, reports later emerged in September 2017 that the marriage had come to an end.
