A popular Nigerian Nollywood Actress Sophia Chisom, also known as Soso, has said she does not use her tongue during kissing scenes in movies and considers intimate scenes purely professional.
The actress made the clarification while reacting to comments by some actors who claimed they had never experienced a good kiss on set.
Speaking on TVC E-Splash, Soso explained that she keeps her teeth shut and relies only on lip contact during kissing scenes as a way of maintaining personal boundaries.
She noted that exchanging saliva with every co-star is something she does not support because she is mindful of who she shares such intimacy with.
According to her, actors should not derive pleasure from onscreen kisses since acting is simply work, adding that complaints about not getting a good kiss sound strange to her.
She stressed that although actors must make scenes appear convincing on camera, professionalism should still be maintained.
“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always close during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable.
“Some people kiss with their tongues but I don’t think it is okay to swap saliva with every single person that you shoot with. Besides, it is a job. So whenever I see a colleague complaining that they didn’t get a good kiss it is weird. You are not supposed to get a good kiss, it is a job,” she remarked.
Her remarks followed statements by some Nollywood actors, including her frequent collaborator Saga Adeolu, who said onscreen kisses are not enjoyable and that they have never had a good kiss while acting.
