Content creator and streamer Carter Efe has spoken about his relationship with Afrobeats star Wizkid during an interview with BBC Pidgin.
Efe praised Wizkid’s talent, creativity, and unique musical style, stressing that he still has great admiration for the singer’s craft.
However, he admitted that he has concerns about Wizkid’s personality, saying the affection and support he gave the singer over the years were not returned.
“My relationship with him? I love Wizkid. I won’t lie. I love Wizkid. I love his craft, man. But I have issues with his personality. I showed that guy love, he didn’t show me love. But I still love his music and style,” he said.
The comments are linked to Carter Efe’s 2022 hit song “Machala,” which he said was created as a tribute to Wizkid out of genuine admiration.
The song became a major success and boosted Efe’s popularity, but Wizkid never publicly acknowledged either the track or the comedian.
Efe explained that the tribute was not driven by money or fame, but was simply his way of honouring an artiste he deeply admires.
